Mixed Reality–To Better Prepare Medical First Responders for Mass-Casualty Incident Response

چکیده
Introduction: Mass-casualty incidents (MCI) featuring a large number of injured persons caused by human-made or natural disasters are increasing globally. During these incidents, medical first responders (MFR) need to take appropriate action that saves lives. In this context, the adage “practice makes perfect” is befitting MCI training. However, providing large-scale training often difficult due significant effort required create types exercises. Drawbacks include actors needed portray victims, availability infrastructure, and realistic treatments. Virtual Reality (VR) has been demonstrated in several domains be serious alternative, some areas also improvement conventional As an advanced alternative VR, Mixed (MR) have potential provide dynamic simulation VR environment hands-on practice on victims. The aim is: 1) present insights newly developed MR system for preparedness 2) discuss pedagogical aspects e.g. how intended learning outcomes perceived training, participants experience what impact will their future work practice. Method: An system, designed teams up four MFRs perform real-time, pilot-tested at beginning 2023. features fully functional touch-enabled human manikin design practicing skills emergency situations. pilot tests carried out within Med1stMR project (https://www.med1stmr.eu/) where approximately MFR evaluated based outcome. Results: Preliminary results from available conference. Conclusion: Research strengthen knowledge as method better support preparedness.

HIGH CASUALTY ENVIRONMENT POSTERS PPO1 Mass Casualty Incident Management in Military Medical Facilities: Strategies for Improvement
A mass casualty incident (MCI) is that which requires a response beyond standard deployment. These can result from natural or artificial events. Casualties can present in peacetime or be evacuated from battle fields. Mass casualty management in most military health facilities in developing countries is not optimal. There are challenges occasioned by dearth of trained, specialized manpower, lack...
متن کاملModeling Uncertain and Dynamic Casualty Health in Optimization-Based Decision Support for Mass Casualty Incident Response
When designing a decision support program for use in coordinating the response to Mass Casualty Incidents, the modelling of the health of casualties presents a significant challenge. In this paper we propose one such health model, capable of acknowledging both the uncertain and dynamic nature of casualty health. Incorporating this into a larger optimisation model capable of use in real-time and...
متن کاملMass Casualty Incident Response and Aeromedical Evacuation in Antarctica
Antarctica is one of the most remote regions on Earth. Mass casualty incident (MCI) responses in Antarctica are prone to complications from multiple environmental and operational challenges. This review of the current status of MCI risks and response strategies for Antarctica focuses on aeromedical evacuation, a critical component of many possible MCI scenarios. Extreme cold and weather, a lack...

OBJECTIVES A descriptive study was performed to better understand the possible utility of immersive virtual reality simulation for training first responders in a mass casualty event. METHODS Utilizing a virtual reality cave automatic virtual environment (CAVE) and high-fidelity human patient simulator (HPS), a group of experts modeled a football stadium that experienced a terrorist explosion ...
متن کاملCare & Prepare – Usability Engineering for Mass Casualty Incidents
Best possible pre-hospital treatment in the event of a mass casualty incident (MCI) is related to prioritizing rescue tasks and using rescue resources efficiently. Currently, information is almost always documented on paper-based forms and communicated by one-to-one talks, messengers, radio and mobile phone. Pervasive computer-based solutions are not established yet. Although the mere technolog...
